Bhigwan or more precisely Kumbhargaon is famous for migratory birds,
especially Flamingos. It is located around 110 Kms from Pune on Pune - Solapur Road
on the backwaters of Ujani Dam. The place has recorded around 300 species of birds.The
shallow water of the lake, ample food and suitable atmospheric conditions attract
these birds to fly here in winter.
Kumbhargaon hosts Greater Flamingos, Bar-headed goose, Eurasian Spoonbills, Northern
Shoveler, Black and Brown headed Gulls, different types of Herons, Ducks, Ibises
and some predator birds like Osprey, Greater Spotted Eagle, Peregrine Falcon etc.
Ramdara Temple is located 5-6 kms from Loni Kalbhor. Though the temple is
dedicated to Lord Rama, one can find idols of many saints on the wall of the temple.
It is surrouned by a water from three sides and there a beautiful garden around.
The Chintamani Ganapati at Theur is one of the ganapati from Ashtavinayakas'.
The temple lore describes how Ganesha retrieved the wish-giving jewel Chintamani
for his devotee, the sage Kapila from the greedy king Gana and how he pacifies the
uneasy mind of the god Brahma, who meditated on him in Theur.
The temple is said to be built by Morya Gosavi and his descendants (dated between
13th to 17th century) and was renovated by Madhavrao Peshwe.
